W4TEX
The textile sector faces a green skills gap. More than 40% of the EU textile companies report an important lack of green skills to support the green transition of the sector. The competitive environment forces industries to redesign their existing structures, which is an obligation to be environmentally responsible in the textile industry.
With the textile sector being the second biggest polluter in the world, responsible for water pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and the landfill, it is crucial that EU businesses move towards a circular economy and a more sustainable ecosystem.
Women can have a crucial role in achieving this transition
Actions should be taken to strengthen the representation of women in managerial and senior positions through the provision of the necessary entrepreneurial skills, as according to the current status women hold less than 25% of senior positions in top textile companies.
